Permaculture Courses

There are various different types of permaculture courses. The main courses which Lusi leads are:

  1. Taster workshops – these are one to two hour workshops in which people can find out a little about permaculture. To have a taster workshop in your place, please contact Lusi.
  2. Introduction courses – these can be one day long, but the standard is a two day course. This course can be taken as a stand along course and is the first module of the full permaculture design course. For more info, see here.
  3. Full Permaculture Design Course. This involves a minimum of 72 hours of taught time. In Findhorn Ecovillage, Lusi is working with Gaia Education to facilitate a 2 week residential course. In southwest Scotland in 2025, Lusi is working with Propagate to run two courses which are half online and half in person over 6 months, with the in person elements taking place on a Saturday. There are two of these courses – one in Glasgow and one in Dumfries & Galloway. Lusi has been invited to teach on other courses from Ireland to the Highlands to England, so I’m open to being invited elsewhere to teach!
  4. The Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design. This is a self-directed learning process in which an apprentice completes 10 designs with the support of a tutor, or tutors. In order to do the diploma, it is necessary to have completed a Permaculture Design Course. For more information, click here
  5. Introduction to Engaging Children in Permaculture : This is a specialist course for educators: parents, primary school teachers, nursery/kindergarten teachers, grandparents, Forest School leaders, Scout/Guide Leaders and anyone else interested in the education of children. It is generally a 12 hour introductory course. We are also developing a longer practitioners and then training of teachers course. For more info, please see the Permaculture Children website.
  6. Permaculture Teacher Training with a Focus on Children: For people who have completed their Permaculture Design Course (PDC) and would like to learn to teach permaculture creatively to people of all ages.
